Return-to-Run Accelerator™

Specialist Low-Impact Rehabilitation at Our Beeston Clinic

If walking or running causes pain, stopping completely often isn’t the answer.

Your body still needs movement — just at the right load, at the right time.

The Return-to-Run Accelerator™ is a clinician-led service designed to help you rebuild confidence, fitness, and movement using a specialist differential air displacement treadmill, allowing you to move with significantly reduced impact.

No obligation. No promises. Just clarity.

Trusted by 34000+ patients, HCPC Registered Podiatrists, British Medical Laser Association members, Venn Healthcare Shockwave Certified.

Who is this for?

This service is ideal if you:

  • are a runner returning from injury
  • experience pain when running on the ground
  • want to stay active without flare-ups
  • are overweight or deconditioned and find walking painful
  • are post-operative and need controlled re-loading
  • have osteoarthritis but still want to move with confidence

How does it work?

Microgravity 5

By supporting a percentage of your bodyweight, we can:

  • reduce stress on joints, tendons, and healing tissue
  • maintain natural walking or running mechanics
  • progressively reintroduce load in a controlled way
  • build confidence without aggravating symptoms

Bodyweight can be adjusted in 1% increments, allowing extremely precise and personalised progression

What happens at your first appointment?

Your first appointment is clinician-led and lasts 40 minutes.

Your Sports Therapist will:

  • discuss your injury, activity level, and goals
  • assess your movement and gait
  • determine your safe starting load and speed
  • introduce walking or running with reduced impact
  • explain how your personalised programme will progress

You’ll leave knowing what your body can tolerate now — and how to safely move forward.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people benefit from 6–12 progressive sessions, depending on:

  • injury type
  • symptom response
  • confidence and conditioning
  • return-to-activity goals

For this reason, we usually recommend a block of sessions rather than one-off visits.

Pricing

  • Initial clinician-led appointment (40 mins): £89
  • Pay-as-you-go follow-up (30 mins): £35
  • Block of 6 × 30-minute sessions: £189
  • Block of 12 x 30-minute sessions: £372
  • Block of 20 x 30-minute sessions: £580

Your Sports Therapist will advise which option is most appropriate.

Is this a replacement for rehab?

  • No — it’s an accelerator.

This service works best when combined with:

    • rehabilitation exercises
    • strength and conditioning
    • manual therapy where appropriate

Your Sports Therapist will advise how this fits into your wider rehab plan.

What to Expect From a Return-to-Run Accelerator™ Sports Fitness Assessment

Your initial appointment typically includes:

  • Clinical history and goal setting
  • Biomechanical and movement assessment
  • Gait analysis (walking or running)
  • Microgravity treadmill trial
  • Clear explanation of findings
  • Personalised rehabilitation recommendations

You’ll leave knowing what’s holding you back — and what to do next.

Case Insight (Example)

“Following knee surgery, walking at full body weight triggered pain and swelling. Using Microgravity rehabilitation, we reduced joint load, restored confidence, and progressed safely back to normal walking — without setbacks.”

Return-to-Run Accelerator™ – FAQs

What is the Return-to-Run Accelerator™?

The Return-to-Run Accelerator™ is a clinician-led rehabilitation service that uses a specialist treadmill to reduce the amount of bodyweight going through your legs while you walk or run.

This allows you to stay active, rebuild confidence, and progress safely with less impact on joints, muscles, and tendons.

You may hear it described that way elsewhere, but we focus on what it helps you achieve, not the technology itself.

The treadmill uses differential air displacement to support a percentage of your bodyweight, allowing controlled and progressive movement during rehabilitation.

This service is commonly used by people who:

  • are runners returning from injury
  • have pain when running or walking on the ground
  • are post-operative and need gradual re-loading
  • have osteoarthritis but want to stay active
  • are overweight or deconditioned and find walking painful
  • lack confidence returning to activity after injury

Your Sports Therapist will confirm if this is appropriate for you at your initial appointment.

This depends on your goals, symptoms, and response to load. We’ll advise clearly after assessment.

No.

While many runners use the Return-to-Run Accelerator™, it is equally effective for walking rehabilitation, confidence building, and low-impact cardiovascular exercise.

Injuries often worsen when tissues are overloaded too quickly.

By reducing bodyweight in small, precise increments, we can:

  • lower stress on healing tissue
  • maintain natural movement patterns
  • allow earlier movement without flare-ups
  • gradually rebuild tolerance over time

This often leads to better progress than complete rest.

Your first appointment lasts 40 minutes and is fully clinician-led.

Your Sports Therapist will:

  • discuss your injury and goals
  • assess your movement and gait
  • determine a safe starting load and speed
  • introduce walking or running on the treadmill
  • explain how your programme will progress

You’ll leave with a clear plan, not guesswork.

Most people benefit from 4–6 sessions, depending on:

  • your injury
  • symptom response
  • confidence levels
  • activity goals

This is why we usually recommend a block of sessions, rather than one-off visits.

Yes.

We offer pay-as-you-go sessions, but blocks are usually recommended as they allow:

  • safer progression
  • better outcomes
  • more consistent loading

Your Sports Therapist will guide you on the most appropriate option.

No — and we’re very clear about that.

The Return-to-Run Accelerator™ is an accelerator, not a standalone cure.
It works best alongside:

  • rehabilitation exercises
  • strength and conditioning
  • manual therapy where appropriate

It is used as part of a wider treatment plan.

Yes, when used correctly.

All sessions are supervised by a qualified Sports Therapist, and progression is based on:

  • symptoms
  • movement quality
  • tolerance to load

We do not push through pain or flare-ups.

You should wear:

  • comfortable sports clothing
  • running shoes or trainers

Specialist shorts required for the treadmill will be provided at the clinic.

Often, yes — but this depends on:

  • the type of surgery
  • time since the procedure
  • advice from your consultant

Your Sports Therapist will assess suitability during your initial appointment.

  • Initial clinician-led appointment (40 mins): £89
  • Pay-as-you-go follow-up (30 mins): £35
  • Block of 6 × 30-minute sessions: £189
  • Block of 12 x 30-minute sessions: £372
  • Block of 20 x 30-minute sessions: £580

We’ll always explain recommendations clearly before you commit.

The Return-to-Run Accelerator™ is available exclusively at our Beeston clinic, where we have specialist rehabilitation facilities and equipment.

You can book:

  • online

Ronnie Mbwana did a fabulous job for me today. He gently treated my damaged toenail, cut my nails, removed hard skin and provided a thorough checkup. The service provided by him and the receptionist throughout was excellent. I highly recommend this practice.

I had an appointment with Ronnie 6 weeks ago, and again today for a follow up appointment.
I had an ingrown toenail which I had left way too long and had become infected. I finally plucked up the courage to visit We Fix Feet in Ilkeston. My only regret is not visiting sooner! Ronnie was able to remove the portion of ingrown toenail at my first appointment, and within a day or two, my nail was perfect. After hiding my feet for many years I finally have a healthy set of toenails and have treated myself to my first ever pair of open toe sandals! All the staff here are wonderful, professional and very reassuring for which I am very grateful. Thank you
