Why this matters

Useful information, without the scare tactics.

Most of us do not think about our bones until something changes. Bone health is something you can understand and act on earlier, helping you make informed choices about strength, movement and long-term independence.

This is not about creating fear. It is about giving you useful information so you can make informed decisions about staying active, independent and confident.

Is this for me?

A useful baseline at different stages of life.

A bone health assessment can be useful for people with recognised risk factors, as well as active adults who want objective information to support longer-term health planning.

If you are…
Why an assessment may be useful
Going through perimenopause or menopause
Bone density can change during and after the menopausal transition, making this a useful time to establish a baseline and discuss your individual risk factors.
Aged 65+, or have had a low-impact fracture
An assessment can help you understand your current bone health and whether further clinical review may be appropriate. No GP referral is needed to book with us.
A serious gym-goer or strength athlete
If you already track performance and body composition, bone density can add another objective measure to your longer-term health picture.
Currently on, or recently finished, weight-loss medication
If your weight is changing quickly, a baseline can give you an objective point of comparison as part of a broader conversation about nutrition, strength and bone health.
Your appointment

What happens at your bone health assessment.

The aim is simple: give you clinically useful information and make sure you understand it.

1

A conversation, not just a scan.

We start with a short conversation about your health history, lifestyle, goals and any relevant risk factors. No jargon, no judgement, and time to ask questions.

2

The REMS scan.

REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) assesses bone density at the lumbar spine and proximal femur using ultrasound signals rather than X-rays. The scanning portion takes around 30 minutes.

3

Optional Bone Health Blood Panel.

Add a blood panel to check Vitamin D, calcium, phosphate and other markers linked to bone health. Samples are processed by Randox, with results typically available the next day.

4

Your results, explained clearly.

Darren Bloore, HCPC Registered Podiatrist, talks you through what your results mean in plain English and discusses what, if anything, makes sense as a next step.

If you would like extra support

Assessment first. Support only where it is appropriate.

For some people, the assessment is the whole story: useful information, reassurance and a clearer picture. For others, structured follow-on support may be appropriate after the results have been reviewed.

FORTIFY™

A 6-week foundation programme for people with early changes in bone density who would benefit from structured support around the fundamentals.

REBUILD BONE™

A 12-week structured rehabilitation programme designed around an individual clinical picture, goals and appropriate progression.

ELEVATE BONE™

A 12-week programme for active adults who want to consider bone health alongside performance, strength and longevity goals.

There is never any pressure to continue. A programme is only discussed where it is clinically appropriate for you.

Led by a registered clinician

Clinical context matters as much as the number.

Darren Bloore

HCPC Registered Podiatrist and Director of We Fix Feet

Bone Health Clinic was created to bring the same calm, structured clinical approach used at We Fix Feet into dedicated bone health assessment, education and prevention.

Your appointment is not designed to hand you a scan result and send you home. Darren will talk through the findings, put them into context and explain when further discussion with your GP or another healthcare professional may be appropriate.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you book.

Is a REMS scan the same as a DEXA scan?
Both can be used to assess bone density at clinically important skeletal sites, but they use different technologies. DEXA uses low-dose X-rays. REMS analyses ultrasound signals and does not use ionising radiation. They are not identical tests, so results should always be interpreted in the appropriate clinical context.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book a Bone Health Clinic assessment directly. If appropriate, and with your permission, we can also provide information from your assessment for you to share with your GP.
I’m on weight-loss medication. Is this relevant for me?
It may be. If you are experiencing significant or rapid weight change, bone health can form part of a wider conversation about nutrition, muscle, physical activity and long-term health. An assessment can provide a baseline, but it does not replace medical review of your medication or overall health.
I train heavily. Is this worth doing if I’m already fit?
Potentially. Physical fitness and bone density are related but are not the same measure. If objective tracking is important to you, a bone density assessment can add another piece of information alongside your training, nutrition and body-composition data.
What if my results show a concern?
We will explain what the result means, discuss appropriate next steps and make clear when further medical assessment may be needed. There is no obligation to join a follow-on programme.
