Sam Barsby helps active people across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire recover from sports injuries, joint pain and surgery through hands-on, exercise-led rehabilitation, whether the goal is getting back on the pitch or walking comfortably after a new hip or knee.
About Sam Barsby
Sam Barsby is a Registered Sports Therapist at We Fix Feet and leads the rehabilitation gym at our Beeston clinic. He works with patients recovering from sports injuries, people managing joint and muscle pain, and those rebuilding strength after hip or knee surgery.

Sam joined the team in March 2026, having graduated with First-Class Honours in Sports Therapy from the University of Derby in 2024. Alongside his clinic work, he is the sports therapist at Anstey Nomads FC, covering training sessions and matchdays, including pitchside injury care.
That combination keeps his rehab grounded in real demands. On a matchday he sees injuries as they happen and has to decide quickly whether a player can carry on. In clinic, he knows what a full return to sport actually asks of the body, and he plans each programme with that end point in mind.
At Beeston, Sam combines manual therapy and structured exercise with the clinic’s specialist equipment, including the microgravity treadmill, K-Laser, focused shockwave therapy and Neubie. He is also trained in the iMove Freely concept used across our clinical team.
Off the clock, Sam still plays football himself, and he’s currently getting used to life with a young baby at home.

More About Sam Barsby
Sam’s route into sports therapy started with football. He has played the game growing up before transitioning into Karate, and his interest in how players get injured, and how they get back, led him to study Sports Therapy at the University of Derby. He graduated in 2024 with First-Class Honours.
Football has stayed part of his working week. As sports therapist at Anstey Nomads FC, Sam covers training and matchdays and looks after players pitchside when something goes wrong. Those are quick decisions made under pressure, and they give him a feel for injury that is hard to learn in a classroom.
In March 2026, Sam joined We Fix Feet to lead the rehabilitation gym at our Beeston clinic, part of the expanded facility we opened in 2025. His work there covers three main groups:
- Sports injuries – runners, footballers and other active people working back to full training
- Post-operative rehab – patients rebuilding strength and movement after hip or knee surgery
- Joint and muscle pain – people with ongoing musculoskeletal problems who want to stay active
The equipment at Beeston gives him more options than most clinics. The microgravity treadmill takes part of a patient’s body weight off, so they can start walking or running earlier and build up in measured steps. K-Laser and focused shockwave are used alongside exercise for persistent pain and stubborn tendon problems, and Neubie helps patients engage muscles while they train.
None of that replaces the work patients put in themselves. Sam’s rehab is built on progressive exercise and clear explanation, so patients understand what they are doing, why it matters and what comes next.
Quote from Sam on his approach to rehab or why he enjoys the work:
For me ‘Movement is Medicine’ I see first hand how detrimental it can be when the ability to move freely is taken away and I want to restore that in everyone, whether it is a new PB on the squat or being able to run a 5k comfortably. It is my mission to empower people to move
The personal side:
- Family: Currently getting used to life with a young baby at home
- Favourite films: Love action movies/ superhero movies – go to’s are kingsmen, Captain america trilogy and the fast and furious series
- Music: MASSiVE MIX – anything from girl pop to rock to UK Grime.
- Food: I love my Pastas at the minute its a self made creamy cajun and pesto pasta. Has to have a protein in it
- Fun fact: I covered a medical camp for Jamaica Womens national team vs England Lionessess
Focused Expertise in Sports Therapy and Rehab
I specialise in sports injury rehabilitation, post-operative hip and knee rehab, and the management of joint and muscle pain. I lead the rehab gym at our Beeston clinic, where I combine hands-on manual therapy with structured exercise and specialist equipment, including the microgravity treadmill, K-Laser, focused shockwave therapy and Neubie.
Education and Continuous Learning
I graduated with a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy from the University of Derby in 2024 and I’m a member of The Society of Sports Therapists. Since then I’ve trained in the iMove Freely concept, K-Laser, shockwave therapy and Neubie, and I keep building on that so every programme I write reflects current evidence.
Experience Pitchside and in Clinic
As sports therapist at Anstey Nomads FC, I cover training and matchdays and manage injuries pitchside as they happen. That shapes how I work in clinic. I know what a return to sport really asks of the body, and I plan rehab with that end point in mind, whether you play every Saturday or just want to walk without pain.
Trust and Commitment to Care
Whether you’re recovering from hip or knee surgery or working back from a sporting injury, I’ll explain what’s going on, agree clear goals with you and adjust your programme as you progress. I want you to leave every session knowing what to do next.
Our Promise to You
My aim is to help you get back to the things you enjoy, moving with confidence and without pain. If you wish to claim for your treatment on any Insurance or Cash Plan scheme, please ensure you book with a clinician who meets the terms and conditions of your specific scheme provider.
